Description of the initiative or special recognition: Pastries with Parents was a huge hit at Lake Ridge Elementary! Instead of the usual Moms and Muffins or Dads and Donuts, we invited the entire student support system—and the turnout was incredible. We had 12 amazing vendors, including Hispanic-owned businesses, bringing the community right to our families.

Explanation of the impact it is having within the school: This event wasn’t just about pastries—it sparked real conversations, built stronger family-school partnerships, and celebrated the growing diversity at LRES. It was a proud moment seeing our school community come together with so much energy and heart!

3rd Point of Pride: Hear Our Voices

Description of the initiative or special recognition: We are proud to recognize 1st grader Tanya Fulton and 3rd grader Zaria Dowdell as winners of the 2025 Hear Our Voices Narrative Writing Competition, hosted by the Department of English Language Arts. Students were challenged to write short stories centered on how they would make the world a kinder and better place.

We also celebrate Ziyah Stinson and Zaliya Stinson, who earned overall 3rd place in the Multimedia category, showcasing their creativity through powerful digital storytelling.

Explanation of the impact it is having within the school: Tanya and Zaria’s heartfelt writing showcased the power of student voice, reminding us that even our youngest scholars can inspire meaningful change. Ziyah and Zaliya’s multimedia success highlights how creativity and technology can amplify those voices in new and dynamic ways. Together, these students have encouraged their peers to speak up, take risks, and express themselves with confidence—bringing pride and inspiration to our school community.

4th Point of Pride: Social Studies Fair

Description of the initiative or special recognition: 5th graders Jasmin Martinez and Eva Trujillo received a Certificate of Recognition at the West Metro Regional Science Fair for their project, “The History of Makeup: How Makeup Evolved Over Time.”

Explanation of the impact it is having within the school: Jasmin and Eva’s innovative project turned heads and sparked curiosity throughout the school! Their success has motivated other students to dive into research, get creative, and explore how their interests can come to life through learning.

5th Point of Pride: SAFE Initiative

Description of the initiative or special recognition: Our SAFE Initiative"Sitting At the Feet of our Elders"—was another standout success this year! We were honored to welcome Ms. Scott, a school-appointed elder through the Engagement Department, who quickly became a beloved part of our Lake Ridge family.

Explanation of the impact it is having within the school: Ms. Scott’s weekly visits, where she reads to students and teaches them how to crochet, sparked incredible excitement. Boys and girls alike look forward to her time with them, creating a rare and beautiful bridge between generations right inside our school!
